One Life Festival – Isle of Wight
Platform One is an independent, not for profits music college based on the Isle of Wight.
This outstanding college delivers accredited courses from level 1 to degree level and
postgraduate masters. Work also includes community initiatives such as a popular Saturday
Rock School for 12 to 16 year old students. Post 16 programmes offer an alternative to sixth form
and college for any young person aspiring to work in the music industry. Platform One also
run a BA (Hons) Commercial Music degree in partnership with University of Chichester.
All of Platform One’s work is about contemporary music practice – embracing music
performance, live sound, audio recording, music technology, music for the moving image,
arranging, composing, song writing, music industry and music business. This broad
curriculum represents the skill set needed to ensure a sustainable and realistic career within
the music industry.
Existing facilities include purpose built sound proofed rehearsal rooms, two state of the art,
recording studios, music technology suites, teaching rooms, instrumental centre, post
production studio, DJ production room, staff work rooms and offices.
Platform One have a wealth of meaningful links with the music industry; this includes a
stage at the Isle of Wight Festival, Bestival, Eklectika, as well as numerous events across the
on and off the island.
